Education at Zion Lutheran Church

Everyone is welcome to join in the Education Hour preceding the Worship Service on Sunday mornings. Here at Zion, we strive to meet the changing educational needs of all of our members and visitors. Below you will find descriptions of our current programs. Please contact the church office if you have any further questions.

Sunday School

During the school year, children from Preschool age through 5th grade meet for Sunday School from 9:00am - 10:00am. They learn about Bible stories, practice a weekly Bible verse, and do fun, hands-on activities to enrich the learning experience. This is an encouraging environment where children share their thoughts and questions, learn the importance of praying for and supporting one another, and understand the value of serving and being a light for God in his/her family, church, school, and community. The end of class is spent singing (and often dancing!) as they practice songs that the Children's Choir occassionally perform during the Worship Service.

Children's Bell Choir meets from 10:00am - 10:15am, practicing songs that they perform during the first Worship Service of each month. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to learn how to read music, keep tempo, and work together as a group to "make a joyful noise unto the Lord" (Psalm 100).

Seasonal activities like a Harvest Festival, Children's Christmas Play/Program, Easter Egg Hunt, and Vacation Bible School are also offered.

Youth Group

Youth in grades 6th-12th meet on Sunday mornings from 9:00am - 10:00am during the school year. They take an active role in choosing topics to discuss that are important to them and pertinent to their lives as Christian youth. There are also multiple opportunities to perform and/or serve during seasonal activities like the Harvest Festival, Christmas Play/Program, Easter Egg Hunt, and Vacation Bible School.

Adult Bible Study

Pastor Knepper leads the adults in Bible study during the Education Hour. They meet from 9:00am - 10:00am during the school year and from 9:30am - 10:15am during the summer.
